Nat Wilsher runs MAKE APPLAUSE on Saturdays between 10 and 12 noon for ages 4-16 in two overlapping groups.
Music we love pop songs and show tunes and also write our own lyrics and compose our own material. Sometimes sound is diegetic (can be heard by the characters in our play) and also non-diegetic (principally to influence the audience's emotions). Depending on the needs of the cast we either perform live or pre-record tracks.
Drama is where we devote most of our time and energy. Theatre skills are learnt through games and exercises to build our students confidence while learning how to work as a team. Each play we devise is different depending on the theme. It might be naturalistic or abstract a straight play or a musical. It also might include film, physical theatre, mime or stage combat. Each student creates their own role with our guidance.
Art is often integral to the play and becomes part of the performance. We make our own props and the visual side to our show has high priority.
Dance features in all our pieces as we enjoy exploring movement and devising our own pieces, and we often have visiting choreographers coming to work with us.
